The D. I. is a special breed,
created for a special need.
For when recruits arrive on scene,
they soon must start to be Marines.
With sounds of fury they start each day,
so others learn the Marine Corps way.
With time and sweat he soon will build,
a warriors heart with lethal skills.
So when they fight on foreign scenes,
all will know they are Marines.

Poetry, like any other art form can be esoteric or exoteric. Oscar Wilde said “Be yourself, everyone else is taken.” Therefore, I prefer an exoteric style in my poetry in hopes of avoiding any esoteric pretense. Ernest Hemingway is quoted as saying: "There is nothing to writing. All you have to do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed."
